Edisto Jewelry Collection

I'm really not so good at this whole blogging thing...but I'm really going to try to be better! Promise.

Like I said in the last post, Edisto Beach is one of my favorite places on the planet! It's so beautiful and peaceful and all my best childhood memories are from Edisto so it was only fitting for me to create an entire jewelry collection inspired by it's beauty!

You can find the entire Edisto Collection here.

And right now there's a giveaway going on at A Creative Day Blog for your choice of the Grey Crystal Necklace (from the Edisto Collection) or the Gold Quatrefoil with Black Onyx Earrings. Check it out!

Edisto Beach 2012

Last week I was vacationing with my wonderful family at Edisto Beach. I've gone there almost every summer of my entire life and it holds a very special place in my heart! I grew up as an only child so I've always looked at my cousins as siblings. We're a very close family and I look forward to that trip more than Christmas. Seriously. No rushing around or holiday drama, just a relaxing peaceful week of solid quality family time filled with lots of fun and laughter (with maybe some wine and coronas mixed in)!
We had two new little faces this year, Edie and Henry! It was their first time at Edisto and I think they enjoyed it! The top picture has my nieces and nephews (Walt, Henry, Edie and Emmie). They're all so sweet and were so much fun, I'm a proud Auntie! :)
Some instagrams of what went on during the week: (well, technically the last day because I could never remember to bring my phone out to the beach to take photos, even though the house is on front beach so it was just pure laziness - don't judge...I was on vacay!) Walt and Emmie being pulled on the boogy board, catching lots of crabs, and Emmie and me went on a long walk along the beach which is one of my favorite things to do!

All in all is was probably one of the best weeks at the beach!

Champagne & Gold Bridesmaids Earrings

I had the pleasure of working with another Etsy bride recently and wanted to share some pictures! I think they turned out so gorgeous!  She really loved the Vermeil Quatrefoil Earrings, but she wanted a champagne colored teardrop bead instead of the emerald jade color. My response, "Yes! Of course I can make that for you!" I already had the most perfect champagne drops, so I took a quick pic and sent her this...
Gorgeous, right? Why I didn't think that design before, who knows, but I'm in love with these earrings! Seriously. And so was the bride! She ordered six pairs for her bridesmaids and a pair for herself too!
Here's some more pics of the earrings:

I was just thrilled with how they turned out! And the best part is these are perfect for the wedding, but they're also great for the girls to wear afterwards. Classic gold quatrefoil design paired with a neutral teardrop make these earrings dressy or casual!

A little shopping at the LAM

I couldn't be at the Lowcountry Artist Market without picking up a couple things for myself! I needed to shop the awesomeness too! I was busy pretty much the entire show, but I had a couple of minutes to sneak away and do a little shopping!

First stop: Rewined candles. If you have never experienced the smell of these candles, then you need go buy some right now! They are incredible and hands down my favorite candle line! They use recycled wine bottles and fill them with natural soy wax in scents mimicking your favorite wines! My favorite scent is the Pinot Noir, but since I already had one at home I picked up Sangria (their summer scent) and Sauvignon Blanc at the show! You can find them online here.

Here's a pic from when I was creating this bridesmaid order with a morning cup of coffee and a Rewined candle.

Second stop: Whiskey Kittens for a lovely new iPhone case! Erica has some awesome designs but I had my eye on the teal chevron case! I'm really into chevron these days and one of my favorite colors is teal so that iPhone case was the perfect combo! You can find all her lovely iPhone cases in her Etsy shop here.

Believe me, I could've spent every penny to my name, but I had to show some self control! I definitely have some great idea for gifts! That's all for now!

Successful Show

Whew! It's definitely been a little while since I've posted, but I've been busy bee for sure! Last week I was preparing for the Lowcountry Artist Market. I always feel like I'm not going to have enough jewelry so the week before I go on a crazy binge and make tons of new jewels! The only problem - I start setting up my table and realize I brought WAY too much! Oh well!

As always, the LAM was absolutely amazing! It's my very favorite show and I'm so thankful to be included each time! Kristen always does an incredible job selecting vendors and there's always a nice crowd! And this time I was between two fantastic sellers: Dodeline Design and Inherited. You should definitely check out their Etsy shops! Dodeline Design creates hilarious greeting cards, personalized stationery and custom wedding invitations. Sarah's super sweet and very talented! Inherited is a beautiful vintage shop with lovely dresses, tops, skirts and shoes! Sabrina definitely has an eye for fashion!

Here are a couple photos I snapped before the show started:
As you can see, my table was overflowing with jewelry! My number one seller were the Quatrefoil Dangle Earrings!
My little milk glass dish was completely full when I started and I only had two pairs left by the end! Time to order some more and restock the online shop!

Blushing Bridesmaids

The past couple weeks I had the pleasure of working with a very sweet bride through Etsy on some custom earrings for her bridesmaids! They turned out absolutely beautiful!! I was so pleased with the end design and I'm pretty sure the bride was too when I got an e-mail from her yesterday saying that she absolutely loved them! Responses like that make me love what I'm doing!

I wanted to share a little bit about the process of getting to the end design...

She really loved these sweet blush pearl earrings that were listed in my shop, so I sent her a pair so she could make sure they matched the bridesmaids dresses.
The blush color matched perfectly (thank goodness!) but she asked if I could make them 2 drop pearl earrings instead of just the 1 pearl. I said, "yes! of course", and sent her a photo of these new designs.

We both decided that this design was the best! The crystal at the top with the two blush coin pearls hanging down. Classy, beautiful and perfect for her bridesmaids!

She ordered 6 pairs for her bridesmaids and kept the first pair, the one pearl drop earrings, for her junior bridesmaid!

Here are some more photos of the final design:

So pretty! I just love them!

I am putting my heart and soul into this business and trying to think of all kinds of ways to increase my audience, by creating a twitter account, offering a giveaway on my facebook fan page and even starting this blog...but it's a hard road. Harder than I expected. But now I'm in it, I've jumped off the deep end and I'm no quitter - so here it goes! Fingers crossed!

By the way - there's still a few more hours left of my Facebook Giveaway! The winner will be announced tomorrow!

New Jewels

This past weekend I went home to Charleston for a quick trip and while I was there I found out that the bead show was in town. I love the bead show and as a self-diagnosed bead-a-holic the bead show is like paradise! I think I love buying beads just as much as I love creating jewelry! And I always enjoy going home and working with the new beads!

At this show there was a new vendor and she had all the jewels that've been searching for! It was amazing! Very high end exquisite jewels! So here are some of the earrings I created...

I can't even express how beautiful these jewels! I handpicked each jewel to create a matching pair for earrings. I think my favorite pair are the large Labradorite teardrop earrings (top right)and I might just shed a few tears whenever they sell.

Check out my online shop: www.laurenamosdesigns.etsy.com (or click the tab above) for all the new jewels!

**And don't forget - the Facebook Giveaway is still going on! All you have to do is post a link to your favorite piece of Lauren Amos Designs jewelry to your Facebook wall and tag the LAD Facebook Fan Page (@Lauren Amos Designs) in your status**

Sea Glass Treasury

On Etsy, members can create treasuries where you can feature 16 items available from other Etsy sellers. There's usually a theme to the treasury, whether it be by color, season, holiday or just random favorites and people get pretty creative! The other cool part is that a treasury can get featured on the front page of Etsy! The major plus side is the massive amount of attention those items receive due to the high volume of people that visit the site everyday!

Over the years several of my items have been featured in various treasuries, which is always very exciting! I've never created one myself until last Monday!

You can check out my Sea Glass Treasury here! Enjoy!

There's several jewelry pieces, a wreath, bobby pins, water color painting, and even a wine stopper all made from beautiful sea glass!

Custom Wedding Jewels

One of my favorite parts about designing jewelry is being able to work with brides to create either custom jewelry for themselves or for their bridesmaids! It's such a fun experience talking with the brides, seeing some of their wedding plans, and listening to their ideas about what would be the the perfect compliment to the wedding day dresses!

Here are some pictures of jewelry I created with brides in mind...

If you're getting married, or know something else that is and would like custom jewelry created for your special day just drop my an e-mail at laurenamosdesigns@gmail.com or contact me through Etsy!

I'd love to work with you!

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Hello! Let me introduce myself...

My name is Lauren and this is my first blog. I wanted to create a place where my family and friends can keep up with my day to day happenings in my new home and to post about the exciting journey of expanding my business, Lauren Amos Designs.

I married my high school sweetheart, Bobby, in 2009. He's my rock and I love him to pieces! He recently got his dream job as a healthcare attorney in Raleigh, NC so we packed up our apartment, grabbed our little schnoodle girl, Addie, and hit the road! My last job was working for the federal government as a financial manager for marine corps project - real exciting, huh? (Yea...not so much.) It was a great experience, but now I'm ready to be my own boss and pursue creating jewelry as my full time career! (fingers crossed!)

I started Lauren Amos Designs when I was in college. I created an Etsy shop and have maintained it ever since. In Charleston, I participated in several craft shows and over the years sweet friends have hosted house parties, but now I'm really trying to get involved in all aspects of social media. I hope to keep you updated on new jewels, my crafting process and all my new adventures. So stay tuned!
